A Liberal In The Midst

Quick  and dirty   Star Trek  Discovery  is everything  I  thought  it would  be.  It is my hope the White  boys  chill the fuck out .  There will be a White male captain .   The Black  woman  will be of a lowered  status.  White  boys  are you appeased ? My personal  view fuck White  boys who had their dicks in a vise  over women  of color  at the helm of a fictional  space vessel.  I shall watch  Star Trek  Discovery .  I shall pay the fee to CBS Access  with joy. If you wanted to watch OITNB you paid  Netflix . Overall  I look  forward  to the day a fictional  show  that features  women  of color  in prominent  positions  doesn't  freak out White males.  They were  so freaked  out  they compared  The Orville  to Star Trek  Discovery .  Guys chill out ,  future  happens .

An offline conversation with a buddy inspired me to update my blog today.   During the course of the conversation it was mentioned there is no one in the Democratic Party to fix all Trump and GOP are doing.   I quickly asked, why are we looking for one person?   The answer is not one person it is all of us.   We must all work to correct the governing of the GOP and Trump administration. We must not look for a messiah but look within for the leader.   We must cultivate and elect to local/state offices those who will govern with the public good in mind.   Leaders who will listen to the people whom they have been elected to serve.   We must create plans of governing (see ALEC) as do corporations.   We must also cultivate and elect to Congress those who understand public service.   My members of Congress have forgotten they represent Mississippi.   They think they serve Trump and the GOP.   The GOP has made no secret of the plans to enrich corporations at the expense of the poor a

Every so often I throw a red pill into a TL to see the bots and the operatives at work.   In all of the discussion about collusion with Russia during the 2016 elections, Bernie has been remarkably quiet.   He will say something when pressed but overall he isn’t concerned about the matter.   Why? Collusion with a nation against whom we have sanctions is a very treasonous matter. I am not saying Bernie directly colluded with Russia for the failure of our democracy in the USA.   I am saying there were some running his campaign who had ties to Russia.   I do know if I tweet a few keys words to legitimate people regarding Bernie, I get foreign bots in my DMs.   I am not saying all Bernie Bros are bots.   I’ve met them offline.   They sincerely believe a White man is the solution for all of the ills of the USA.   Maybe they are correct, only the creators can correct what they have done.   However, I continue to see White men make people of color, especially Black people, and women a

I am writing today about my recent adventure in voter registration.  I've had some recently developments in my life that necessitated a change of address.  Change of address, same US Congressional district, meant updating my voter registration.  During the process I was reminded of the suppression games of Mississippi in voting.  Many automatically think Voter ID when I write, suppression games, in the South ID is the least of the ways of suppressing the vote.  My secretary of state, Delbert Hosemann, touts the ease of voter registration in Mississippi.  His favorite is  using the online method, http://www.sos.ms.gov/Vote/Pages/default.aspx.  I used this site, waited 7 days, and then call my new county to confirm.  Shocker of all shocks, I am not on the rolls.  We have less than 3M people in Mississippi and only 1.8M are registered to vote, my desktop can process those numbers. All things being me,  I confirmed with a voice at the Clerk's office the times of operation.  I s

I am typing a few quick thoughts today.  This thought is about White people being real.  When I returned to Mississippi in 2002, I had planned to only be here two years.  I didn't wish my kids to be in the oppressiveness of Mississippi too long.   I like other young Black people left this state before the ink was dry decades earlier.  When I returned in 2002, I was to learn of a silent change in the state, White folks waking-up.  They are sadly still not the majority in 2017 but they are growing daily.  Trump has helped many White people face the mirror no longer able to deny the truth.  They are now facing the results of hate without the filter of Confederate glasses.  Mississippi is a wreck and holding on to a divisive symbol of hate, our flag.  Centuries of hate in the state has left the state destitute to the point even White people are leaving in large numbers.   Those now leaving are exporting hate to other states that have done well economically by ending policy of hate.

Well, it seems I have hurt someone’s feelings.   My governor has blocked me on Twitter.   He said something about HB1425 and I did a quote of it.   My quote was something about one should check whatever my governor promotes.   I am thinking really?   He is really mad because I stated something about legislation?   Then I remembered I pasted his reaction to Jeff Sessions’ confirmation for AG every opportunity I could find to do so.   I mean seriously he is my governor and he is saying these things.   Also Mississippi has not exactly been making the best deals lately so yes I question legislation when he is pushing it.   We should always question legislation.   I use http://www.legislature.ms.gov/Pages/default.aspx to skim the bills. I had no idea this man who likes to pose with guns and law enforcement was so sensitive.   He is the last I would think would be a snowflake.      Perhaps it is my asking, what my local media should be doing, if he is of any relatio
